Fall Colors in Colorado

This image demonstrates that sometimes our color changes occur as early as September 26th.  I made this photograph in the San Juan National Forest, near Telluride, in 2009.  At that time the forests were in “full bloom”. This year’s display should begin at around the same time.  I’m taking a group of students out for two days of photographing Aspens and Fall Landscapes, September 27-28.  I’ll let you know how it looks out there.  Stay tuned.

When photographing the aspen trunks, I suggest overexposing your capture. And use a long lens and step back from the scene and zoom in to avoid keystoneing. ©Kit Frost

  1. I hope to see you out here for a fall vacation. You can only imagine the colors of Colorado and Utah from the end of Sept…till mid to late October. ZION too.
