The Elusive Sunrise. While on the way to photograph Hot Air Balloons we ran into a seductive view of the sun as it rose over Valley of the Gods. Small apertures, like f22-32 are necessary to make the sun a star, as is the technique of placing the sun against an object, in this case, the mesa nearby. Focus for the above image was along the cliff wall. We moved dozens of times to keep the sun from being too big in the frame, and shot multiple images as there are no guarantee with difficult, elusive, subjects.
